and The Possums Clinic
are excited to announce the establishment of their new partnership. In doing so, we create an exciting new model of general practice, focussed on quality care, continuity and social responsibility. With both The Possums Clinic and Grow Medical dedicated to connecting with you as an individual, as a family, and growing the health of the community around you, we make a natural fit with each other. Together, we offer a fresh approach to general practice.
Possums’ inception was in 2014, the product of many years of clinical practice and research by Dr Pamela Douglas. This work informed the establishment of a multidisciplinary clinic that offers specialised care for mothers and babies with breastfeeding, sleep, cry-fuss and mood concerns; for children with learning and development challenges; and for mental health support across the life-span. Possums has become a nationally and internationally recognised hub of best-practice in the care of mothers and babies, and uses technology in innovative ways to provide care at a time and place that suits families, including internationally. The charitable organisation Possums for Mothers and Babies Ltd will continue to drive education and research in early life care.
Dr Aaron Chambers created Grow Medical in 2016 with a recognition that our increasingly disconnected and corporatised medical care in Australia is not good for patients or clinicians. We believe that the connection between doctor and patient should be based on lifelong continuity, and that medical practices exist to serve patients and clinicians. We believe good General Practice is about being a force for good in the local community, and that you should be treated like a person, and not a number.
With the young, innovative team at Grow Medical focussed on quality, lifelong, family care, and with The Possums Clinic seeking to broaden their excellence in perinatal and early life care, the two have now come together in partnership to offer excellence in whole-of-life care.
Now with two Grow Medical clinics, at Highgate Hill and Sherwood, and The Possums Clinic continuing unchanged at Highgate Hill, patients will have greater choice, more reliable and timely access to healthcare and a broader team capable of managing the most complex of problems at all stages of life.
