Sam is a kind, caring and compassionate Endorsed Midwife and Lactation Consultant with a passion for providing holistic, inclusive, and evidence-based feeding and lactation support. She is supportive of her patients individual feeding choices and aims to build their skills and knowledge, so they feel more confident, intuitive, and empowered throughout their feeding journey.
Sam first qualified as a midwife in England in 1997 and supported women throughout their pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period in the community and hospital environments. Soon after emigrating to Australia, Sam qualified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2012 and has re-certified every 5 years with the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE).
After completing further university studies, Sam received her endorsement as a midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia in 2021 which enables Sam to prescribe appropriate scheduled medicines within her scope as a midwife as well as request appropriate pathology and provide Medicare rebates for her patients during their pregnancy and up to 6 weeks postnatally.
In 2024, Sam became accredited to perform scissor frenotomies (tongue-tie releases) for babies under 6 weeks old with ankyloglossia (tongue-tie) after she successfully completed university studies and passed her practical training.
She is a current member of the Australian College of Midwives (ACM) and the Lactation Consultants of Australia and New Zealand (LCANZ) and is committed to continuing professional development to ensure she delivers high quality, up-to-date and safe patient care.
Sam sees patients at our Fairfield clinic as well as telehealth and phone consultations and offers home visits within 15kms of the Fairfield clinic.
