James Washington

Provisional Psychologist
BPsychSci(Hons), MProfPsych
James is a psychologist who is currently extending his training by completing a Master of Clinical Psychology. Over the past year, he has been working as a provisional psychologist, predominantly supporting clients with adjustment to injury counselling, workplace-related difficulties, and common mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, OCD, and PTSD.
James takes an evidence-based approach to therapy and draws primarily on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Schema Therapy, tailoring his interventions to each client’s needs and goals. He values collaboration, compassion, and practicality in his work, aiming to help clients develop skills that lead to meaningful and lasting change.
Before working as a provisional psychologist, James spent several years as a support worker, working closely with children and adolescents in a range of settings. This experience has strengthened his understanding of developmental, emotional, and behavioural challenges in younger people, as well as the importance of family and environmental factors in wellbeing.
