ADHD Screening
From 1 December 2025, Queensland GPs can now diagnose and treat adults with ADHD. This update helps reduce barriers to assessment, improve access, and lower both time and cost for patients.
Growlife Medical’s Approach to ADHD Support
At Growlife Medical, we take a whole-of-person approach to care. When someone seeks an ADHD assessment or treatment, we partner with them throughout their broader health journey, not just for ADHD management.
Continuity of care is central to our values. Wherever possible, we keep diagnosis and treatment under one roof, with our Growlife
GPs and
psychologists working together to support accurate assessment and safe, ongoing care.

The Growlife Medical ADHD screening process
Our pathway is supportive and tailored to everyone as individuals. While each person’s journey is unique, most will follow the steps below.
1. Initial Appointment - Mental Health Discussion (Long Appointment with your GP)
ADHD affects everyone differently and sometimes can be confused with other physical or mental health conditions. The initial appointment will be a general mental health discussion with your Growlife GP. If you’re new to Growlife Medical, our reception team can help match you with a GP who suits your needs.
Bringing old school reports, previous assessments, or past specialist letters can be very helpful.
During your first visit, your GP will:
explore your concerns
complete initial screening
help rule out other potential causes
decide if it is suitable for you to pursue ADHD testing
Pending the outcome of this appointment, you may be directed to formal ADHD testing (a more complex process) with either a Growlife GP with ADHD expertise, one of our in house psychologists or a psychiatrist (who can provide structured diagnostic interviews, medication initiation, and early follow-up, keeping your medical care consistent and connected, rather than spread across multiple providers.)
2. Screening, Investigations & Collateral Information
Your GP may arrange further information to prepare for the ADHD testing, including
school reports or family feedback
relevant blood tests and a baseline health check
All of these steps can help ensure a safe, accurate diagnosis.
3. Second Appointment – ADHD testing for potential diagnosis
Pending your initial appointment, a separate testing appointment may be required for diagnosis. During this appointment a formal structured diagnostic interview will be conducted.
This appointment will take place by either:
a Growlife GP with a special interest in ADHD
one of our Growlife Psychologists
or a Psychiatrist (for complex cases)
If you are undergoing ADHD testing with a Growlife Medical GP, this process will be conducted over 1 to 2 one-hour appointments, depending on your specific circumstances.
4. Management Plan & Treatment
If you receive an ADHD diagnosis after testing, your Growlife GP will discuss:
medication options
psychological strategies
CBT with a Growlife psychologist or another suitable provider
lifestyle and organisational supports
review schedule and long-term wellbeing planning
an ECG - if stimulant medication is required for the patient
5. Follow-Up & Continuity
Your care and reviews are anchored with your regular Growlife GP, with additional input from a Growlife GP with a special interest in ADHD or one of our in-house psychologists when needed.
ADHD care is most effective when delivered within an ongoing GP–patient relationship so we can offer holistic, long-term support tailored to you.
Initially, reviews may be scheduled more frequently, gradually transitioning to routine check-ins every 3–6 months once your care is stable.
Ongoing reviews ensures:
long-term monitoring
understanding of your broader health context
collaboration across your care team
Fees & Billing
We value transparent, fair billing.
Some stages of the pathway require longer or more detailed appointments.

(We avoid listing fees here to ensure accuracy and consistency.)
