Circle of Security Parenting™ Program

Take the guesswork out of parenting

Parenting is challenging and we all wonder if we are getting it right. You are not alone. Circle of Security™ is a parenting course based on decades of attachment research about how to build a strong relationship with your child. Unlike many behavioural perspectives Circle of Security™ offers relationship tools and a new way of understanding your child’s needs.

How will my children benefit?

During this parenting course, you will start to look beyond your children’s behaviour and identify and respond to their emotional needs. By attending this course your child will experience:

  • Greater self-esteem and self-worth

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who is Circle of Security for?

Circle of Security™ is for parents and carers of children aged 0-12 years old who would like to deepen their emotional connection with their children and help understand their children’s emotional needs.

  • What should I expect at Circle of Security classes?

It is common for people to experience some initial anxiety about participating in a group. The facilitator provides a warm and relaxed space to learn new skills.  Our groups are small with 6 – 8 participants. Through personal reflection and group discussion you will gain a new understanding of how to deepen your emotional connection with your child, in turn helping them feel secure.

Being in a group offers a confidential space where you can share your struggles and parenting concerns and learn from others experiencing similar challenges. Previous parents say they felt less alone and the course helped them see and connect with their child in a whole new way.

  • How much do Circle of Security classes cost?

$360 per parent or carer for the whole Circle of Security Parenting Program (partner $300). The discounted partner rate also applies if the partner attends a Circle of Security course at a later date.

More About Circle of Security™

Secure Attachment

A secure attachment between child and parent/care-giver is critical to a child's well-being. That connection is also associated with future well-being inclusive of increased empathy, better self-esteem; stronger relationships, enhanced school readiness and more.

Secure attachment promotes a sense of safety and security, regulates emotions, and creates a secure base from which your child can explore life. The Circle of Security early intervention program is designed to help your child develop a secure attachment from an early age.

 Attachment Theory

The Circle of Security program is based on Attachment Theory, which is the idea that relationships are very important to our wellbeing and mental health. This is particularly true in terms of relationships with parents in early life, which form and influence way we interact with other people later in life. The very well-studied topic, Attachment Theory, is part of the Circle of Security subject matter.

Development of the Early Intervention Program

The Circle of Security early intervention program was developed over 30 years of clinical experience and developmental research. The three co-founders are highly qualified, very experienced and widely recognised. Importantly, the developers ensured the program was accessible and easy for all to understand.
