GP Shared Pregnancy Care
At Growlife Medical, we believe that continuity of care and strong local connections are essential to growing a healthy family.
Our doctors, nurses and allied health team are passionate about supporting you at every stage of family life. With a strong focus on preventive health, we aim to build lasting relationships with our patients, ideally before pregnancy, so that you and your partner are in the best possible health when planning your family.
By seeing your Growlife GP early in pregnancy, they can help confirm your pregnancy, establish your due date, and discuss your preferred model of antenatal care.
At Growlife, we offer GP Shared Pregnancy Care, allowing you to see your trusted Growlife GP and/or midwife at your convenience. This includes routine antenatal check-ups, support in managing early pregnancy symptoms, referrals for scans and blood tests, immunisations, and ongoing symptom support, while maintaining close communication with your chosen hospital or private obstetricians. This approach helps foster a trusted relationship with your care team well before your baby arrives.
Following the birth of your baby, our support continues with complimentary midwife visits up to six weeks post-partum, a free weekly baby clinic at Growlife Sherwood, free
parent groups, access to
lactation consultants and feeding support, and a range of family-focused
programs.
Advantages of seeing your GP throughout pregnancy
One of the advantages of seeing your GP throughout your pregnancy is a reduced need for visits to hospital antenatal clinic. This saves you time and establishes a relationship with the clinic, so you feel right at home when you bring your baby in after giving birth. Such a special moment for everyone!
We also have a comprehensive team who provide different aspects of your care. From a wellness perspective, we recommend all women see a pelvic floor physiotherapist during and after pregnancy, and during the third trimester book into our antenatal classes focused on When Baby Comes Home. Your regular care after birth is supplemented by our Brisbane Women's Health Clinic, where more complex concerns can be managed, including IUD insertion.

Midwifery Care
Endorsed Midwife and Paediatric Nurse Alison Chambers offers bulk-billed antenatal and postnatal care to provide practical advice and support during pregnancy. Alison can support you and your family alongside your chosen GP throughout your pregnancy. This brochure will help to navigate pregnancy, know all of the options available and when to book appointments. Bookings can be made at any time for bulk-billed antenatal appointments with Alison, in clinic or via telehealth.
Lactation Consultant Kate Maynard also offers antenatal care to discuss antenatal expressing and preparation and planning for after birth. Private fee applies for lactation consultation appointments with a rebate from Medicare.
Comprehensive Family General Practice
After birth, transitioning into regular family general practice is seamless. The relationships you build during pregnancy help support a smooth, confident transition into parenthood and ongoing care for both you and your baby.
The Growlife team includes GPs with a paediatric focus, many of whom hold a Diploma of Child Health, working alongside experienced nurses, midwives, lactation consultants and an allied health team to provide coordinated, continuous care.
For additional support, our dedicated Highgate Hill Mothers and Babies team can assist with infant feeding, sleep and settling, and early parenting challenges. Growlife also offers a free weekly Baby Clinic at our Sherwood location, run by an experienced Baby Nurse, as well as free weekly parent groups at Highgate Hill, Sherwood and Sinnamon Park.
Our
nursing team supports families with childhood vaccinations, baby weighing and developmental checks. Working closely with your GP, they help ensure your baby’s growth and development is carefully monitored and that all routine care remains up to date.
