Amy Cooper

Music Therapist - Master of Music Therapy

Amy has a Master of Music Therapy from the University of Queensland and is registered with the Australian Music Therapy Association. Her clinical work is informed by the latest research in trauma-informed care, post-ableist music therapy, and social prescribing frameworks.  She has worked in primary care, special education, aged care, and therapy hubs in the community. Amy actively supports her patients with and through music as they strive to manage their health and enhance their quality of life.

Amy is the Clinical Manager of the innovative SongLife Connections family group music therapy program, supporting families in the early months of life with their new baby. Amy is an experienced group facilitator and she is passionate about using music to enhance and shape social relationships and strengthen family bonds. For the families, becoming familiar with their own voices and using music with ease can transform their experience as parents.

Amy has designed and facilitated music therapy programs for people with dementia and their caregivers. In these programs Amy uses music to guide reminiscence, promote executive functioning, and explore emotional expression.

When she isn't making music, Amy is seeking other creative experiences at theatres and galleries.
